Short & Sweet
What a difference a week can make
We arrived home yesterday, after about 72 hours of travel, and my relief is palpable. My husband was well enough to travel; Opal looked great; and my mother was the best I’ve seen her in a long, long time. My husband said, after we stopped by to see her on our way to a nearby hotel: She looks really good! And her speech is so much better. I could actually understand most of what she was saying!
It’s true. She seems to have come back to herself a bit and requested the speech therapist to help her to better her vocal skills. She seems brighter and happier. I feel a sense of ease I have not felt in a long time, only realising how long it was missing once it was back.
I am so grateful right now for all the aspects in this caregiver’s life which seem to be in flow. It’s something I don’t take for granted and I have missed feeling this calm. I am enjoying it while it lasts.

I’m so relieved to hear that Bryan was able to make the grueling trip home - and that you found all your loves who remained in the States to be happy and healthy.
Opal’s face truly does say it all.
Awwww that face! I'm so glad the travel went okay and your Mom's doing REALLY well! Give Opal hugs from me. xo
